Khamzat Chimaev, the UFC welterweight rising prospect, gave his fans a blast from the past by uploading a nine-year-old picture of himself on his official Instagram account.

‘Borz’, because of his dominant fighting style and fearless personality, has become a household name in the UFC. He started training wrestling at a very tender age of 5 in Russia. However, Chimaev later moved to Sweden with his mom when he was 19-years-old.

In Sweden, Chimaev won multiple freestyle wrestling championships. Looking back at his old days, the Russian-born Swedish fighter recently uploaded an old picture with the caption, “2013.”

‘Borz’ looks chiseled in the picture. Many notable names, including his friend/UFC middleweight fighter Darren Till, reacted to the post. Even the former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney liked the picture.

Chimaev, after an undefeated professional fighting record of 6-0 made his UFC debut in 2020. He competed in three UFC fights in the same year and won all via a finish. His most recent first-round submission win in October 2021, made him the highlight of the UFC 267 event. ‘Borz’ hasn’t competed ever since then. However, he will soon return to action this weekend.

Earlier, it was difficult for the promotion to find a viable opponent for Khamzat Chimaev. However, now he has a name to dance with inside the UFC cage that also suits his fighting style.

Chimaev will take on the former title challenger and number two welterweight contender Gilbert Burns on the main card of UFC 273. The event will take place on 9th April 2022 in Florida, USA.

An intriguing featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and ‘The Korean Zombie‘ will headline the event.

Burns and Chimaev are some of the best wrestlers in the welterweight division. Hence, this fight is going to be a delightful treat for the fans to watch.
