On his official YouTube channel, Thompson posted a video inside which he had a clip from one of his first kickboxing fights. The fight happened around the year 2000, when the welterweight striker was only 16 and was in high school. Besides, he was a featherweight (145 lbs).

Thompson shared the story behind the fight and said, “In this particular fight, I’m fighting a guy named J.R. Bernard… This guy was a very cocky fighter.”

The kickboxer shared how his opponent had beaten his father’s instructor in an ‘unrespectful’ way. Further, he added his opponent was showboating after beating the 50-year-old instructor. Although, he mentioned his opponent presently has become a good person.

Thompson added, “My sister was talking to him a little bit. Like, talking-talking him a little bit, I think, leading up to the fight. So, this is another reason I had to go all out on this guy.”

The UFC athlete then commentated on his fight as he was watching the old clip of him going berserk on his opponent. Although he has a nicer side to him as well.
