The bad blood between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis has escalated, with Du Plessis making comments about the former’s abusive childhood. Strickland responded, emphasizing that personal attacks on family should be off-limits in banter. However, it must be noted that Strickland was unfiltered when it came to Ian Garry and Sean O’Malley’s family, and fans were very quick to point out Strickland’s hypocritical nature. One of the fans showcased the famous ‘glass house- throwing stones‘ quote.
Du Plessis’ comments on Strickland’s abusive childhood were undoubtedly harsh on the middleweight champion. Strickland took it to heart and asserted that he would break Du Plessis in their upcoming match. However, fans pointed out that Strickland is not washed in milk.

In the fight business, fighters often challenge each other and it results in banter. Most of the time it just involves them personally, but sometimes the fighters let go of their morality and the family in it. The Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington fight at UFC 296 was a prime example of it. Similarly, Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland’s rivalry is turning into a no-limits feud involving families.
Strickland’s childhood is filled with abuses from his father and Du Plessis’ comments were the triggering point for the fighter. The Middleweight champion, through Theo Von’s Podcast, made a statement about the comments. He explained that he had to keep his composure. “There’s some things that are off limits. You don’t really talk about a man’s wife, you don’t talk about a man’s kids, and you don’t talk about a kid being abused. These things are all off limits. Once he crossed that… I tried to f****** ignore it. I was boiling”.
“Whenever Dricus [du Plessis] goes on there and he jokes about that s***, dude, you have no idea. I’ll f****** kill you, you have no idea. I think the issue is too, when you’re a kid and you’re made to be a victim your whole life, as an adult, you’re like never again. I’ll f****** kill you.” said Sean Strickland on Theo Von’s podcast.
Strickland’s statement on Von’s Podcast sounds quite true and sense-worthy. However, it must be noted that he was the first person to call out Ian Garry and Sean O’Malley for their wife openly. This hypocritical nature of Sean Strickland was called out by fans.
Fans ask Strickland to ‘not dish it if he can’t take it’
Sean Strickland commented on Ian Garry and Sean O’Malley’s wives when he found out that Garry’s wife has written books on how to make rich athletes fall in love with her and O’Malley’s wife has some crush on O’Malley’s friend. ‘Tarzan’ was unfiltered in his approach towards the banter and fans feel as if Strickland’s comments on Theo Von Podcast were a bit awful. Some of the comments by the fans are as follows:-
He who lives in a glass house shall not throw stones.
Wasn’t he making fun of Sean O’Malley’s wife..
Remember this guy laughed on Khalil Rountree’s depression
So whatever Sean says is fair but when jt affects him its off limits
Ok so he is dictating where the line is? What about race? Religion? Not over the line? It’s fighting there is no line grow up
