Tragedy seems to follow Francis Ngannou wherever he goes. The former UFC heavyweight champion, of course, grew up in abject poverty, and had to cross half a continent and a sea to get to Europe, where he started his fighting career, quickly rising to the top.

Last year, however, he lost his fifteen-year-old son due to an undiagnosed medical condition. And just a couple of weeks ago, reports suggest that the PFL heavyweight champion was involved in another tragedy, albeit one he was part of himself.

How did Francis Ngannou get into an accident?

According to reports, a local whistleblower group in Cameroon has claimed that Ngannou was riding his bike when he collided into a seventeen-year-old girl, Ntsamma Brigitte Manuella. Cameroonian news outlets Cameroon-Online was the first to report on it, and they claim that the girl was rushed immediately to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, she passed away.

‘Cameroon-Online’ has claimed that there are conflicting reports about the accident, with some claiming the MMA champion crashed into the motorcycle the seventeen year old was on, while others claim that she was struck directly by him. What the  exact circumstances of the accident were—whether Ngannou lost control of the bike, whether or not he was speeding, whether he was at fault or if the now-deceased victim was careless—are all questions fans want answers to. But sadly they remain unanswered at the moment.

Where and when did the bike collision occur?

Francis Ngannou was reportedly riding his bike in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde. The exact place of the unfortunate and fatal accident seems to be the neighbourhood of Omnisports, which is a swanky apartment complex in the Cameroonian metropolis.

The incident reportedly happened on Easter weekend, which was on 19-20 April 2025. It is unclear at the moment how exactly the accident occurred, but from the reporting, it seems like the MMA superstar was riding his bike and struck the seventeen-year-old. While we do have some idea about where the accident took place, we don’t have any idea about even the rough time of the accident.

Who is the girl involved in Ngannou motor bike accident?

We know next to nothing about the girl who lost her life in the accident, except her name—Ntsamma Brigitte Manuella—and that she was seventeen years old. She was reportedly returning home from an outing at the time of accident. News outlet Le Bleds Parle has claimed, based upon multiple sources, that ‘The Predator’ personally rushed Manuella to the General Hospital Yaounde, one of the best in the world, but that was of no use and she passed away in the hospital.

Of course, this has raised some very uncomfortable questions for the fan-favorite heavyweight star, like—was there an attempt at a cover-up? Ngannou, of course, is one of the biggest celebrities in the country and no news outlets reporting on the incident until a week ago does raise questions about whether ‘The Predator’ and maybe even the authorities tried to hush it up.

After all, has a police complaint even been filed, as would be done in such a case usually? If not, then why not? Did the police look into it and determine Ngannou was not in the wrong? All of these are troubling questions that the former UFC star will have to answer in the coming days, now that the incident has seen the light of day.
