Fans react to Walker vs. Smith at UFC Charlotte

The UFC Charlotte co-main event started off with an exciting first round. Johnny Walker started off strong, landing clean shots on Smith a few times. The dying minutes of the fight got fans on their feet as Walker dropped Smith. Although it looked like he might get another first-round finish, Smith survived and took Walker down to finish the round on top of the Brazilian.

The second round was largely uneventful, with both fighters looking depleted. Walker kept spamming leg kicks while Smith was trying to conserve energy, carefully picking his shots.

The kicks added up for Walker in the third round as Smith struggled to move. Despite having several moments for a finish, Walker took the patient approach and was content with a decision win.

Fans on Twitter also had a few reactions to the light heavyweight co-main.

This was the biggest win of Walker’s career so far. He could find himself in the upper echelons of the 205 lbs division after beating a top 5-ranked opponent in Smith. The SBG Ireland representative can also start dreaming of a title shot and if he keeps the momentum, he might only be one or two high-profile wins away from it.
