Covington and Edwards have been exchanging blows back and forth when it comes to the war of words. However, so far, Edwards hadn’t lost his calm. That was until the very recent presser where Covington came all dressed up in his ‘Make America Great Again’ get-up. And he commented on Edwards’ father.

Do you remember when Conor McGregor took it too far by trash-talking Khabib Nurmagomedov’s family? Well, perhaps that has happened yet again except the roles have been changed. Now, it’s Colby Covington’s latest comment about Leon Edwards’ father who passed away when the fighter was thirteen years of age.

“You’re so f*cking stupid,” Covington said. “On Saturday night, I’m gonna bring you to a place you never want to be. I’m gonna bring you to the seventh layer of hell. We’ll say what’s up to your Dad while we’re there.” Edwards’ father was shot and murdered in a London nightclub.
Perhaps that’s why ‘Rocky’ launched a water bottle in his direction. While that shot missed, perhaps his strikes will do the talking. Edwards had a difficult childhood because his father’s affiliations with crime. It was eventually his involvement that caused his unfortunate demise.
Covington knows this. Under the ‘Chaos’ moniker is a lot of strategic planning and scheming. There is no way Covington hasn’t already researched Edwards’ entire personal and professional history. So when he said what he did, it was 100% intentional. Will this break through Edwards’ mental defense?

When champion Leon Edwards was fighting Kamaru Usman during his title shot in 2022. At UFC 278, Usman looked dominant in the first four rounds of the fight. While Edwards fought back valiantly, it looked like he was struggling. And then? A pep talk changed everything.

You’re two f*cking down, you gotta pull this sh*t out the fire.” And that’s all it took. A perfectly executed feint that led to a head kick like no other.
