Paige VanZant left the UFC after an inconsistent run in the promotion. She could only manage two victories in her last six outings and ended with an overall MMA record of eight wins and five losses. Hoping for a change in fortune, ’12 Gauge’ joined the bare-knuckle promotion of BKFC. She made her debut against Britain Hart in a five-round main event that ended in defeat for VanZant. Hart won the contest by the judge’s unanimous decision, with 49-46 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Now VanZant fought the debutant Rachael Ostovich in her second fight at BKFC. Although ’12 Gauge’ had defeated Ostovich in the UFC, she failed to do so at BKFC 19 on 23 July 2021. After hearing the judge’s scorecard that said 49-46 and the winner by unanimous decision, Rachael Ostovich. Paige VanZant immediately left the ring, shaking her head in disbelief without giving the in-ring interview.

This is the second time in a row that Paige VanZant headlined a BKFC event and failed to win. Now her bare-knuckle record has zero wins and two losses.

Fight analysis for Paige VanZant vs Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19

Round 1- Ostovich starts strong

Rachael Ostovich opened the round with a power full right followed by a jab. VanZant got a verbal warning when he fires some illegal shots at her ducking opponent. Soon both the fighter engaged in a clinch where Ostovich proved to be more productive. Round one ended with both fighters maintain distance in the last ten seconds of the round.

Round 2- VanZant finding her range

’12 Gauge’ started off with jabs, whereas her opponent swung hard. VanZant was finding her range with the jab but constantly ate the right hand in the process. Paige VanZant threw volume but could connect most of her shots.

Round 3- ’12 Gauge’ commits to her jab

Ostovich found constant success with her right hand. VanZant, unable to find another strategy, stayed committed to her jab. Rachael Ostovich again caught VanZant with a combination of left and right hands and ended the round in a clinch where both fighters scored.

Round 4- Rachael Ostovich rocks her opponent 

12 Gauge‘ tried to maintain her distance from the power shots as she looked for openings. After no success, VanZant tried to rush in, where she got rocked by a right hook. Rachael Ostovich followed her opponent as she poured it on, forcing Paige VanZant to engage in a clinch. VanZant landed some body shots inside the clinch. The referee separated the fighters in the last twenty seconds of the round before the fighters got inside another clinch, ending the round.

Round 5- The final clinch

Till now, Paige VanZant showed her toughness and durability by eating her opponent’s best shots. Ostovich was moving slick like a boxer, whereas ’12 Gauges’ wasn’t good with the head movement. VanZant thew a beautiful left hand that landed right on the nose of her opponent. Both the fighters fell in the final clinch of the match where Ostovich again landed the power shots. As soon as the referee separated the fighters, the final bell rang, ending the fight.

Rachael Ostovich won by unanimous decision where both the ladies endured some serious punishment.
