The first UFC event of 2022 (UFC Vegas 46) has gotten off to a great start. After four decisions on the prelims, Bill Algeo got the first main card victory over Joanderson Brito via a unanimous decision. Meanwhile, we got to see the first finish of the year as lightweight Viacheslav Borshchev snuck in a clean left hand to Dakota Bush’s body in the first round.
Although ‘Hairy’ looked good at the start as he used his four-and-a-half-inch reach advantage to the fullest and advanced aggressively towards his Russian counterpart, it wasn’t enough to get ‘Slava Claus’ out of business.

Bush tried to take control of the fight from the start and at one point was even able to take the Russian’s back. However, Borshchev bided his time and weathered the storm as he looked for an opening.

After absorbing the flurry of strikes Bush sent towards him, the Russian started to look for an opening. ‘Slava’ landed some clean punches and pushed ‘Hairy’ towards the canvas. At this point, he got his opening and landed a clean left onto his opponent’s ribs.
The body shot caused Bush to crumble to the ground in pain. Subsequently, the referee broke the fight at 3:47 of the very first round. Soon enough, Borshchev went to his victory dance and put on an after-show at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
