Daniel Cormier is in Abu Dhabi right now for his commentary duties under the UFC. The promotion’s lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov too, has flown to the new fight capital of the world as he had a meeting with company president Dana White. Recently, Nurmagomedov won the 2020 Submission of the year award for his emphatic Triangle Choke at UFC 254 against Justin Gaethje.
Nurmagomedov and Cormier have been teammates for a long time in the American Kickboxing Academy. They never fail to tease each other and make a laugh out of it.

The Russian claimed that Cormier will never be able to do that choke, as he feels the former two-division champion’s legs are too fat. It was just banter, though. But to be honest, Cormier has let himself go a bit after announcing retirement and has added some significant size on his frame.
Nurmagomedov also announced retirement at UFC 254. Naturally, he has gotten bigger as well. Nevertheless, the two friends shared a light moment between them after meeting six months later.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will keep a close eye on UFC 257
UFC 257 will feature two blockbuster lightweight clashes. Conor McGregor will fight Dustin Poirier in the main event on January 23. Dan Hooker will welcome Michael Chandler to the UFC in the co-main event spot. Nurmagomedov has revealed that he is looking for those fighters to provide something spectacular in a bit to lure him out of retirement.
McGregor wants his rematch against ‘The Eagle’. A signature performance from ‘The Notorious’ could very well set up the biggest rematch in UFC history. Also, the former Bellator champion Chandler will look to impress the biggest stars in the sport. He wants a shot at them as well in order to prove himself as the top lightweight on the planet.
