Joe Rogan has been with the UFC for a long time. The UFC’s most famous commentator has several other gigs as well, but his passion for MMA has stayed the same. His love for the sport perhaps comes from the fact that he himself is training in the art of fighting.

He has evolved over the years. However, Rogan’s fans surely love to revisit his initial days with the promotion. Hence, ESPN MMA uploaded a video of Rogan’s commentary debut in 2002. In the video, Joe Rogan was welcomed back to the broadcasting team. Before returning to the promotion, Rogan also hosted ‘Fear Factor.’

Rogan was heard saying, “I’m a huge fan of ultimate fighting, all mixed martial arts. Literally, I don’t care about other sports. Like, the Lakers won their third championship the other day. I couldn’t care less if they made basketball illegal. It wouldn’t even bother me.”

Further in the video, fans got to see Rogan passionately talking about the sport. His love for MMA explains his long association with the UFC. In addition to this, his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, also has several conversations around MMA. Several UFC fighters have appeared as guests. While they speak about several other things unrelated to MMA, it is difficult for it to not come up when the host and his guests share a common passion.

How did Joe Rogan start working with the UFC?

As per an old article published by ‘Bleacher Report‘, Rogan was on ‘The Rosie Show’ and spoke about his initial days with the promotion. As per the report, Rogan started out in 1997 as the post-fight interviewer. He even spoke about how different the promotion was back then. Since then, he has become a core part of the UFC with many fans waiting to hear him call fights.

Hence, when he was absent at UFC 271, many raised questions. Fortunately, Rogan was back at UFC 272 to resume his commentating duties. Viewers expect to see him during the upcoming US-based PPV events. Adding to all of this, Rogan’s humongous podcast and his UFC gig enabled him to enjoy a large fanbase.
