Luque got his start in the UFC as a part of The Ultimate Fighter 21. And he later made his official debut in 2015 at the UFC on Fox: Dos Anjos vs. Cerrone card. He holds notable victories in the promotion over fighters like Jalin Turner, Mike Perry, and Tyron Woodley.

Luque, known as “The Silent Assassin,” overcame a career-threatening brain bleed, returning to the UFC after a scary knockout loss to Geoff Neal in August 2022. He received a one-year suspension initially but focused on non-sparring training for recovery.

In an interview with the ‘Trocacao Franca’ podcast, Luque expressed gratitude for the UFC and Nevada Athletic Commission’s thorough health checks and stated that he used the downtime to evolve as a martial artist.

He revealed, “I was under observation in the hospital and it didn’t develop to something more serious. They gave me this six-month suspension from fighting but I decided not to any sparring for six months. I only trained grappling, wrestling, conditioning, hit pads and things like that. I didn’t do any sparring to really be 100 percent recovered.”

Luque’s dedication to evolving as a martial artist reflects his determination and readiness to return to the octagon. And ahead of the Ian Garry fight, a former UFC middleweight champion has stated that Garry should consider himself lucky to be facing Luque instead of another fighter!

On his YouTube channel, Michael Bisping, former UFC middleweight champion spoke about the controversies surrounding Garry and his beef with fighters like Leon Edwards and Sean Strickland. ‘The Count’ stated, “Ian Garry is just bloody lucky that he’s fighting Vicente Luque because he’s not the type of guy to talk about another man’s family and neither should anyone else out there.”
