Khabib Nurmagomedov may have retired from the Octagon, but his recent ventures are keeping him close to the sport. The retired mixed martial artist has taken up coaching as his new career pathway. He is actively training new fighters while also donning the cap of a promoter with his new Eagle FC organization.
However, a particular matchup featuring two former UFC stars has disgruntled veteran Referee John McCarthy. The promotion booked a fight between young upstart Kevin Lee against an aging veteran in Diego Sanchez.

It is well known that Diego is not in his prime while Kevin is still very young. According to John, this fight just makes little sense, and he dubs it as a nasty fight that shouldn’t happen.
He said,” I understand what Khabib is trying to do by putting this fight together, But I look at it and I go, you know? Diego has done a ton in the sport of MMA. He’s had some great times, and he’s had some hard times. I just don’t want to see him going out with him being the guy, you know? It was kind of that way you know with his last fight in the UFC, they’re trying to use his name, get other guys over and you know get that victory against that guy who is the legend of the sport.”

“The guy has been there forever, the guy who won the ultimate fighter 1. I don’t know, I just don’t think it is a good fight. I mean I’ll watch it, I am not saying that I won’t, I just don’t think that the match-up at this point in their careers is a fair match-up.” John added.
