When Kamaru Usman lost to Leon Edwards at UFC 278, many people claimed it to be a fluke. However, ‘Rocky’ proved his doubters wrong and grabbed a majority decision win over ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ in their trilogy fight last weekend. Moreover, lightweight star Paddy Pimblett reviewed the 286 headliners and pointed out that moment when Usman looked shaken during the fight.

Kamaru Usman was very confident coming into this fight. However, the British fighter showed great striking prowess, and takedown defense, and managed his distance well from the opponent during the fight. He carved out the win and proved his mettle as the UFC welterweight champion.

He said, “[Kamaru Usman] looks calm, lad. He’s giving me a feeling that he’s gonna come out and finish him [Leon Edwards].”

However, as the fight progressed, Pimblett commended ‘Rocky’ for throwing some great strikes toward Usman. “Leon’s looking sharp so far,” said the Liverpool native. Paddy Pimblett was impressed with how Leon Edwards tried to fend off Usman’s takedown attempts. The lightweight star also pointed out the exact moment he knew the fight would go in Edwards’ favor.

The win at London extended Edwards’ winning streak to 11 wins dating back to 2016. The MMA journalists asked ‘Rocky’ at the post-fight press conference if he wanted to face Kamaru Usman again. He rejected that idea and claims that there are other fighters in the division who deserve a title shot. He will be fighting Colby Covington next, as Dana White informed. We will have to wait and see if he extends his title run with a 12th consecutive win.
