The unthinkable transpired at UFC 278 when Leon Edwards outwitted Kamaru Usman with a kick that crowned a new champion in the welterweight division. Till the last minute of the fight, Usman was cruising and looked set to defend his title for the 6th time. However, a kick dislodged him from the top of the division. That result had an unprecedented impact as not only did it change the division dynamics, but it also reaffirmed the unpredictability of the sports. Since then, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ took some time off the Octagon and recently resumed training for the much-awaited trilogy fight.
Notably, the former welterweight champion will finally have his shot at reclaiming the UFC gold at UFC 286. In the preparation leading up to the fight on March 18, the 35-year-old is training hard to achieve peak fitness levels. His latest social media post evidenced the same.
