The welterweight division at UFC is currently dominated by Kamaru Usman. However, there are many great fighters who can give him an extremely tough competition. Khamzat Chimaev is one such fighter. However, he needs to fight some big opponents before he gets the title fight against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Hence, a matchup with Gilbert Burns would be great for him.

UFC President Dana White has previously said that no one is up for fighting Chimaev. But it seems like Burns is ready to take on the Russian-born fighter. Both Chimaev and Burns have agreed on Twitter for a bout. If this bout took place, it would push ‘Borz’ to his limits.

Chimaev’s previous dominant wins show how skilled he is. As a result, several UFC fans think that testing his abilities against a higher-ranked fighter will either kill his hype train or prove his skills to the world.

In one of his latest tweets, Burns revealed that the USADA visited him. As a result, he expects to receive a fight contract soon. He wrote, “Usada came to the house at night this time! 🤔 I hope the contract is on way”.

Is Gilbert Burns a good match for Khamzat Chimaev?

His most recent loss was against Usman at UFC 258. He wasn’t able to snatch the title away from him. However, Burns went on to defeat Stephen Thompson via a unanimous decision.

On the other hand, Chimaev has never lost a single bout in his professional MMA career. He is just four fights old in the UFC. Yet he has quickly managed to become a well-known welterweight. If he fights Burns and defeats him, he might be able to get a shot at the title soon.
