Both Ian Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov have emerged as standout talents, capturing the attention of fans and critics alike with their flawless performances inside the Octagon. They also hold a perfect record in their career which is a rare feat in the sport of MMA, this far into each of their careers. However, one of them will lose their record when they fight each other at UFC 310.
Chael Sonnen feels that with so much at stake, Dana White could have at least made the fight the event’s headliner. ‘Nomad’ was all set to take on Belal Muhammad previously but the champion pulled out at the last moment. While the UFC has done a fantastic job in roping in Ian Garry, Sonnen feels the fight deserved a lot more. ‘The American Gangster’ took to his YouTube channel to share his honest update about the upcoming clash between the two talented fighters.
He said, “It is very rare when you get guys with O’s. Like, his is one of the oldest storylines in sports history, somebody’s O must go but that never doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter if it’s football teams baseball teams or boxers. That [is the way it] works somebody’s O must go. The reason we don’t use it over here, the reason that Dana White could not be caught anywhere talking about somebody’s O must go [is because] he’s never been in a position like this.” Both Garry and Rakhmonov have previously trained together and will now look to assert their dominance in the division.

While Sonnen is super excited to witness the fight, he raised a very important question about Leon Edwards. The former welterweight champion is nowhere to be seen after his UFC 304 loss. With ‘Remember the Name’ out of the clash, should ‘Rocky’ have been the number one choice for ‘Nomad’? Well, Chael Sonnen feels he could have.

Chael Sonnen originally wanted Shavkat Rakhmonov against Leon Edwards at UFC 310
Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad finally settled their unfinished business at UFC 304 in a highly anticipated welterweight clash. After their first fight at UFC Vegas 21 ended in a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke, the rematch carried enormous stakes, with both fighters looking to cement their place in the title picture. However, Belal Muhammad proved once again why he’s one of the toughest and most durable competitors in the UFC. With relentless pressure “Remember the Name” found success in the clinch and landed key takedowns in the later rounds, making the fight intensely competitive. However, after the loss, the former champion has been left out of the conversation for quite some time now.
This is what has been bothering Chael Sonnen and has shared his honest opinion on the whole. With the champion out of the fight, the UFC could have roped in Edwards against Shavkat Rakhmonov but rather they chose to give Garry the opportunity. ‘The American Gangster’ is frustrated with the whole and on his YouTube channel shared his opinion on the whole. He said, “

“Having Belal get hurt doesn’t just slow the division down or take on opportunity away from Rakhmonov. It really pushes the probability for Leon, I mean it pushes it out exponentially. When they were talking about who should Belal defend against first. The very first person that should have been considered was Leon. If Leon was the champion and rightfully so, if he truly was number one and gets beat, he should fall to number one contender.”, said ‘The American Gangster’.
