The Liverpudlian will take on lightweight veteran Tony Ferguson, in the latter’s second fight of the year. Meanwhile, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping weighed in on the upcoming fight and made some notable comments about ‘El Cucuy’s recent performances.

Tony Ferguson hasn’t won a fight since 2020. The fighter, who once had a 12-fight winning streak, has lost his last six fights. Moreover, he’s going to take on a much younger and hungrier Paddy Pimblett at the end of 2023 and Michael Bisping isn’t confident that ‘El Cucuy’ can overcome ‘The Baddy’. Michael Bisping discusses the recent struggles of Tony Ferguson

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Michael Bisping weighed in on Tony Ferguson’s recent record and mentioned how he had struggled to pick up a win. ‘El Cucuy’ has remained winless in the last three years. Bisping said, “Tony Ferguson, no disrespect to him. He struggled lately.”

Furthermore, Michael Bisping mentioned how MMA is unlike any other sport. A fighter can compete against the best, but in due course, losses start to pile up. ‘The Count’ claims that this is an inevitable aspect of MMA.

“This sport is an unforgiving son of a b*tch and you stick around long enough, you fight at the highest level [and] the toughest fights, eventually you’re going to get beat and those losses continue to come,” said the Hall of Famer. Bisping also ideated the fact that it might be time for Tony Ferguson to call it quits.

After talking about Tony Ferguson’s recent struggles, Michael Bisping shifted his focus to the fact that the lightweight veteran was 39 years old. Although there are fighters in other weight classes who have won championships in the 40s, the Hall of Famer believes that Ferguson should consider retirement. He said, “Tony Ferguson is 39 years old. Listen, heavyweights can go into the mid-40s. But 39 as a lightweight, it’s time to start thinking about retirement.”

Michael Bisping even referred to Ferguson’s recent losing streak and mentioned how he got dominated in all of his last six fights. “If you see the last six fights of Tony Ferguson… they haven’t gone his way. [He] lost them all,” said the former champion.

Although people are talking about ‘El Cucuy’s six-fight losing streak, the veteran has a different take on his UFC career.
