Khabib Nurmagomedov once revealed that his father wanted his students to put in the same effort to win every fight, and it seems like his teammates are exactly on that course. ‘The Eagle’, who’ll be there to corner both Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, recently provided an update on the two UFC 311 featured fighters, providing an insight into their preparation.

Khabib Nurmagomedov recently found himself in an unfortunate incident where he was assisted out of a plane after a communication error. Although that has been a big talked about issue among the members of the MMA community, the 29-0 legend has chosen to not dwell in the past and look ahead for arguably one of the biggest days for his team – becauseIslam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov are aiming to make history.

On January 18, Team Khabib could witness two new first-time instances. Not only could Umar Nurmagomedov end up becoming a UFC champion for the first time, but Islam Makhachev will also have the opportunity to surpass his mentor and friend and put himself in the ‘G.O.A.T.’ conversation. So yes, for the lightweight champion, things are going as smoothly as it has in his preparation for past fights, even though Arman Tsarukyan could be the toughest opponent he’s ever fought.

Well, not really. Khabib Nurmagomedov has stated several times how hard it is to travel with Islam Makhachev and the other fighters on his team, given that he also has responsibilities as a family man. At the moment, he believes that he and his team have been dominant in the MMA game for several years now, and that has allowed him to claim that he will be leaving his coaching role soon, but only when his fighters end their careers as well.

“When the guys finish, I’m going to finish. I hope it’s going to be very fast. I’m tired of all this,” Khabib Nurmagomedov told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “We’ve been on top of this game for like 7-8 years since I became a champion. All these guys were with me. They were with my father when I was starting. There are still 6-8 [fighters competing] at a very high level. When they finish, I will finish too.”
