No matter how far away he’s from the Octagon, UFC welterweight Colby Covington always finds a way to stay in the spotlight. Whether he’s fighting or not, he keeps his name in the conversation by making the most outrageous and over-the-top comments about fellow fighters, athletes, and just about anyone else in his crosshairs. Lately, it seems like he’s set his sights on NBA legend LeBron James, acting as if he has a personal vendetta against the basketball icon. Well, this is not the first time the UFC fighter has made some remarks about the NBA legend.

During the UFC Tampa pre-fight press conference, ‘Chaos’ launched a fierce tirade against LeBron James and surprised everyone. The 37-year-old in the press conference, talked about the old Instagram session where James claimed, “Ain’t no party like a Diddy party.” He went on to question the NBA star about his connection to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and said, “I want to ask LeBron: What does he mean by ‘there’s no party like a Diddy party?’” He further added, “And not only that, LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? I’m really curious to know. Is that the reason you left social media?”

And now, the former interim welterweight champion has concerns about double standards in James’s activism. Covington previously referred to James as a “spineless coward” but this time he has gone on to call him, a “Chinese finger puppet”. During a recent conversation with Sean Kelly on his Digital Social Hour Podcast, Covington didn’t mince his words for the 40-year-old legend.

He said, ” Yeah he is a Chinese finger puppet. He makes all his money in China, you know. He’s over there, you know”. Covington has repeatedly taken shots at LeBron James, accusing the NBA superstar of championing equality and social justice in the United States. Covington believes outsourcing is just a way to cut expenses while profiting from products tied to Chinese labor.

He brought up the same topic again and further added, “All his merchandise is done in China with all these women that are working for pennies on the dollar in these Chinese labor sweatshops. So you can’t talk about equality if you’re not really about equality. What about the women in China that you are employing for cents on the dollar?”. The former welterweight champion was also not impressed with the way James handled the Stephen A. Smith situation and shared his honest opinion on the whole.

Is Colby Covington right about LeBron's double standards, or is he just seeking attention?

Covington picks side in the latest drama between Lebron James and Stephen A. Smith

Tensions have been running high in the basketball world after LeBron James’ fiery exchange with Stephen A. Smith. But what the Lakers star likely didn’t anticipate was Colby Covington jumping into the mix. ‘Chaos’ and James have traded verbal jabs in the past, but this time, the former interim welterweight champion took Smith’s side, adding more fuel to an already heated situation.

For the unversed, Stephen A. Smith made some comments about Lebron James’s son, Bronny James where he questioned his presence in the NBA. The ESPN analyst said, “I am pleading with LeBron James as a father: Stop this, stop this. We all know that Bronny James is in the NBA because of his dad.”

The 40-year-old was indeed affected by the comments and went on to confront Smith recently in the third quarter of the Lakers’ overtime win over the Knicks. During the First Take episode, Smith revealed what exactly was the confrontation and said, “He approached me during the game and he said stop f—–g with my son. That’s my f—–g son. Stop f-ing with my son.” Smith brushed off the incident, chalking it up to nothing more than a father standing up for his son. But Covington wasn’t ready to let it slide that easily.
