Boxing vs. UFC – Which one is better? This is a longstanding question that fans from both sides want a satisfactory answer to. However, since the two disciplines are extremely different, no winner has been picked yet. However, people have their own opinions when it comes to choosing between the two combat disciplines, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan chose UFC.

According to the podcast host, the UFC is better than Boxing. However, he did go on to mention exactly where UFC went ahead of professional boxing. As a martial artist himself, Rogan was seen discussing the UFC’s reputation and where it beats boxing, with UFC Middleweight fighter Sean Strickland.

When discussing the advantages that come with being an MMA fighter and how the UFC can fix that, Sean Strickland said the pay factor needs to be changed when it comes to the UFC.

If it was a high-school thing and you could go get a D1 Scholarship and you can leave the ghettos, by being an MMA fighter? 100%. 100% dude. F**k yeah, man!” started Strickland, talking about MMA changing lives.

So, how do we fix that?“, asked Rogan, wondering what UFC can do better in that regard. 

Like money in the UFC… [inaduible] I don’t know. You know more about that than me.” replied Strickland, reiterating what other fighters have been saying about the promotion and their paydays.

Well, there’s money in the UFC for guys like you. But that’s… also in boxing. The UFC’s better than boxing when it comes to how undercard fighters get paid.” concluded Rogan.

Which is better? – UFC’s war against Boxing

For quite some time now, UFC fighters and professional boxers have been at each other’s throats – trying to prove that one discipline is better than the other. In the quest to find the answer to that, the fans of UFC and Boxing witnessed a contest between former UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor and retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Now, Nate Diaz is all set to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. There are rumors of Tyson Fury‘s next opponent being former UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. UFC commentator Joe Rogan was recently the cause of a verbal feud between WBC champ Tyson Fury and UFC HW champ Jon Jones.

While no one has been able to pick a winner between the two styles, Joe Rogan has picked his winner as the UFC, because the pay scale for the prelim fighters is better in the UFC than in boxing. According to 2022 reports, the average payout for UFC fighters is  $146,673 while the same for boxers is anywhere between $22,000 and $51,370. Some of the highest-paid athletes are boxers; Floyd Mayweather Jr. for example. However, when it comes to prelim fight cards and amateurs, UFC usually pays more. therefore, what Rogan said, might actually be true.
