Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has backed his mate Volkanovski to beat Makhachev. UFC is now edging towards a new era. What’s more? The newcomers are already making their mark, a few dethroning the champions already. Amidst all the chaos, we await another dramatic battle with the P4P throne online.
‘The Great‘ Alexander Volkanovski takes on Dagestani warrior Islam Makhachev at UFC 284 on 11th February 2023 in Perth. It is a highly anticipated fight, as the stakes are as high as they come. Volkanovski’s P4P ranking will be on the line against Makhachev’s lightweight title. The fight certainly makes sense as there an only a few challenges remaining for both the fighters in their division. If Volkanovski wins, he will join the elite league of 2 division champions.

Israel Adesanya makes his stance clear
During his recent appearance on the ‘Flagrant podcast’, ‘Izzy’ predicted Aussie homeboy to claim the victory. This comes as a surprise as even though ‘The Great‘ has never tasted defeat in UFC, Makhachev remains the favorite to stand victorious. This perhaps is due to his impressive wrestling skills.
‘Izzy‘ said, “Volk used to be a fat guy. Like, big boy, brolly, played rugby. When you walk around with that kind of body mass for years, you develop a different kind of muscle density. Even with Volk, I’ve tried to hold him down. I’m not the greatest wrestler, but even with my frame and my leverage, it’s hard to hold him down. He finds his way back up – a crafty veteran. His inside leg kick, his jabs, his hand control, all that sh*t – he’s crafty.”
‘Izzy‘ claims to be aware of the Dagestani pedigree but remains assured that Volkanovski will emerge victorious. Although he accepts his bias, ‘Izzy‘ claims that he could bet his own house on ‘The Great‘ winning the fight if he could.
