Is a trilogy in the UFC on the cards? After seven years of a heated rivalry, Alex Pereira finally lost the lead to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, where ‘The Last Stylebender’ turned the tables on the Brazilian and knocked him out in the two-rounder bout. The MMA community has showered Adesanya with high accolades for this impressive victory.

Despite suffering three losses to Pereira, ‘The Last Stylebender’ was able to reverse the wave on the scorecard and reclaim the UFC middleweight championship belt. This monumental win has left the fans in awe and has solidified Adesanya’s position as a true champion in the MMA world.

Immediately after the loss, the fans urged Pereira for a trilogy fight, but it seemed unlikely. However, the 35-year-old has recently announced his next fight, which makes the possibility of a trilogy fight with Adesanya even more out of scope. This has only made the fans want it more, with some still rooting for the Brazilian in this major decision.

Alex Pereira is no longer at middleweight

In a recent announcement on social media, Alex Pereira revealed that he would be moving up in weight-class for his next fight; something that had been anticipated by the MMA community for some time. After losing the belt and the winning streak to Israel Adesanya, the Brazilian has now set his sights on the light heavyweight division, announcing that he will be fighting at 205[lbs] next.

The 35-year-old announced, “Hi folks. Like I promised I’ll announce you big news on my channel. My next fight will be in 205! You heard that right. My next fight will be in 205.”

Although the fans were expecting a third matchup in the UFC between the two arch-rivals, Pereira’s decision to turn his ways from hereon has put that possibility in doubt.

  • “Wait why not trilogy ?”
  • “Whyy!! No man stay there and get a rematch, you should beat him  at least for your son”

Fighting at 205 could work well for ‘Poatan’, as it seems more natural for him.
