Labeled as ‘Power Slap’, the competitive promotion will air early next year and feature competitors showcasing their power, technique, and resolve.
What is Dana White’s Power Slap?
The newly floated combat sport found a likely supporter in the UFC lynchpin. The popular sport went viral during the pandemic, giving fans a quicker dose of action. In addition, High-impact slaps, peculiar facial muscles wobbling in slow motion, and competitors’ flying hair kept the fans entertained.
‘Power Slap’ will launch with an eight-episode series that will air on TBS in early 2023. Notably, White collaborated with the erstwhile UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and eminent TV producer Craig Piligian.
White last month confirmed that the newly envisioned promotion got sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). Therefore, it became the first such league with defined rules, rankings, and weight classes.
While talking to journalists on the promotion’s launch, the 53-year-old revealed that he was working on this project since 2017. Further, he added, “From the first day I saw it, I felt like this could be big. I knew what needed to be done to make it a real sport just like we did with MMA”.

As revealed by White, the competition will have a medical testing process similar to the UFC. A coin toss will establish the opportunity to throw or receive the first slap. Besides, there will be a 30-second window to deliver a slap and a further 30 seconds to recover from the same.

Likewise, the fight will have three minimum rounds. The 10-point system and victory via knockout, TKO, or points reflect another MMA inspiration for the new sport.

The Power Slap League is just people open-palm striking eachother undefended. So fucking stupid. Why did the NSAC approve this?
