The UFC and Dana White have always come under fire for paying their fighters less than what they deserve. The promotion recently had to pay an enormous sum of $335 million in settlement to a group of MMA fighters who filed a lawsuit against the promotion for suppressing fighter pay. However, this isn’t all, as the promotion has lost champions in the past for not meeting their expectations in terms of pay.
Despite all the accusations about the promotion, fighters usually get the shorter end of the stick. But a former UFC fighter might just have the answer to help fighters demand higher pay in the future.

Ex-UFC fighter, Brendan Schaub is one person who has been vocal about him getting paid the minimum while on his time in the UFC. Schaub also claimed in the past that he was paid around 8k+8k USD for a fight that had over 5 million views at a UFC on Fox event. Schaub now claims that there’s a solution for fighters to take the fight back to the promotion by starting a Union.
During a recent podcast episode of “The Fighter and The Kid”, Schaub stated, “The fighters need to unionize, they need a union. Just like MLB and NFL NBA… That’s the only way they’re ever going to make a change. This just makes things the exact same. Now the argument to that is, okay, so if the UFC whatever paid how you think and I don’t know I don’t know their books their financials” Schaub took the example of UFC fighter, Tyson Pedro who recently retired after deeming his UFC career not worth it to keep going.
The ex-UFC fighter explained that fighters should form a union instead of throwing individual lawsuits towards the promotion. And fighters such as Conor McGregor, Israel Adesanya, Sean O’Malley, Sean Strickland, and other big-time fighters should join the union to make an impact. Even a former UFC champ took to social media to lambast the financials he received in his stint.

However, “Mighty Mouse” would go and reveal that he was denied PPV points in the recent YouTube video. “They specifically said, ‘we do not give pay-per-view points to flyweight guys, but if you’re a lightweight or you’re a welterweight, middleweight, heavyweight, I’ve been told that once they became champion, they got $500,000 flat and it went straight in their contract that they got pay-per-view points every single time. When Dana White says I didn’t want pay-per-view points, that’s not true. I asked for pay-per-view points,” said Johnson.
