Former UFC middleweight fighter Jacare Souza might return to action soon. However, this time around, it won’t be inside the MMA ring. Instead, the Brazilian has hinted at a boxing match on his return. Currently on a four-fight skid, Souza parted ways with the UFC after his last loss at UFC 262.

In an interview with Sherdog, Souza revealed that he is close to signing a deal for a boxing match.

However, Souza didn’t disclose much information about his deal. Even though he is from a jiu-jitsu background, this boxing deal interests him, as boxing pays handsomely.

Jacare Souza moving to boxing is no surprise

As many MMA fighters have turned their attention towards the boxing universe after retiring, Souza’s decision may not come as a surprise to the MMA community. Some of the notable names that have transitioned to the boxing ring are Anderson Silva, Mike Perry, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Vitor Belfort.

Even though his striking has improved, he is nowhere near the level of the aforementioned names. Nevertheless, it will surely excite the fight fans to see the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist in a different form of combat sport.
