The Dagestani fighters have formed an image of being the most dominant fighters in the world. Khabib Nurmagomedov set the tone for the camp and Islam Makhachev has continued it in the UFC. Moreover, Umar and Abubakar Nurmagomedov are also dominating their respective divisions in their promotions.

However, the dominance is just limited to the male divisions of MMA. This has been owed to the Sambo style of wrestling by the Dagestanis rather than traditional grappling. There hasn’t been a single female fighter emerging from the mountain region of Russia to participate in the UFC. But inconspicuous news has emerged showing a new ‘mythical’ WMMA fighter from Dagestan, making her UFC debut.
