The retirement of former UFC star Darren Till caught the MMA world by surprise. After a slew of disappointing and weak performances, the British fighter faced the alleged risk of getting the chop from the promotion. In addition, with a sole win in his last 6 Octagon fixtures, the fighter faced severe criticism for not realizing his potential. Since then, various speculations have aired regarding the former UFC associate’s next stop. One such speculation gained traction when UFC veteran Chael Sonnen theorized ‘The Gorilla’ had decided on his next expedition.

Instead of stepping into a steel cage, ‘The Gorilla’ had envisioned a bare-knuckle boxing career. Or at least that’s what the famed submission grappler floated, and the fans put faith in those. However, contrasting reports have emerged since his comments and put a stop to the Liverpool native’s bare-knuckle career debut rumors.

Notably, Oscar Willis of TheMacLife took to his Twitter handle and dropped the latest development associated with the 30-year-old fighter. Further, he expressed the MMA analyst had some fun while making the previous statements.

Thus, he wrote, “According to sources, Darren Till won’t be fighting bareknuckle. Seems like Chael was having some fun.”

These sources refuted the claims the former ESPN analyst made when he appeared on The MMA Hour recently.

Sonnen’s earlier comments urged fans to mark the calendar

While discussing the upcoming BKFC event headlined by former UFC fighters Mike Perry and Luke Rockhold on April 30, the 46-year-old disclosed the winner could face Till in his homeland.

Thus, he admitted to Ariel Helwani, “If I tell you that the winner of Rockhold and Perry is going to fight Darren Till in England, you probably would forget that, but if I tell you in bare-knuckle, all of a sudden you’re gonna mark it down on your calendar.”

Therefore, it could be argued whether Sonnen’s comments were merely a play or he wanted to spark something.
