Israel Adesanya will step into the octagon this weekend as he attempts to overcome perhaps the greatest adversary he’s ever faced. ‘The Last Stylebender’ will look to reclaim the middleweight throne as he faces current champion Alex Pereira at UFC 287. Adesanya is laser-focused on getting one back from the man who has defeated him three times in his career, with two of those being finishes. However, the former champion could not help but respond to an incident he came across on Twitter.

The 33-year-old came across a somewhat unsavory post on Twitter that prompted a reaction from him. What’s more, it also prompted a reaction from former UFC star and multiple-time MMA world champion Jake Shields.

Israel Adesanya reacts to a violent incident on Twitter
Recently, Israel Adesanya shared a quoted retweet of a Twitter post. The post showed a violent interaction between a man and a young girl on a road. The caption to the original post explained the situation as “Man attacks 17 year old girl because she passed him.”
In the clip, we see a man assaulting a young girl. He pushed her onto the hood of the car before striking her and finally throwing her on the side of the road. Though the girl attempted to fight back, she was a mismatch for the older and stronger man.

The video did not sit well with ‘Stylebender’ who retweeted it with a message that read, ““A generation of men raised by pu**ies.””
Israel Adesanya’s stance on violence against women was clear from his reaction. In brief words, the former champion condemned any and all mentality that justifies violence against women.
Jake Shields agrees with Adesanya
In addition to Adesanya, former UFC star Jake Shields also commented on the incident. Shields is known for his polarising statements on Twitter. The 44-year-old often gets into controversies for his takes on contemporary issues and right-leaning opinions.

However, there were no doubts this time. “What a pathetic coward”– Shields wrote in response to Adesanya’s tweet. The former UFC middleweight champion and the former Strikeforce middleweight champion agreed on their views regarding the video.
Violence against women has been a topic of heated discussion in the MMA community since Dana White’s scandal on New Year’s eve. Several fighters came out against violence against women following the incident.
