Former UFC double champ Conor McGregor‘s rehabilitation from the devastating injury he suffered at UFC 264 had turned a lot of heads in the MMA community. While he did fully recover from the broken tibia, the Irishman’s massive change in physicality had caught the eyes of multiple personalities in the sport as well, one of them being UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan.

The 55-year-old had earlier shared his perspective on McGregor’s recovery, addressing the subject of the Irishman’s clash with USADA as well. Following this, another former fighter and UFC legend recently chimed in on the same subject. This former fighter shared a rather interesting take on it, even forecasting some kind of drama to unfold between the anti-doping agency and McGregor, or possibly even the UFC itself.

Using a recent article published on Rogan’s take on the subject of McGregor’s rehabilitation; Chael Sonnen, in one of his YouTube videos, pointed out the commentator’s support for the former champ. The podcast host, while speculating about McGregor’s recovery and his voluntary absence from the USADA testing pool, had pointed out that he’d have done pretty much the same too, owing to the extent of the injury.

“Joe Rogan said, ‘look I don’t know Conor took anything, but he did leave the sport, left the pool, and got big and jacked while healing the leg’. Joe said if I was in Conor’s spot, I most definitely would have taken things.” explained Sonnen.

Using this perspective of the commentator, Sonnen then went on to explain how he felt that a possible drama might unfold in the MMA world.

“But I’m only bringing this to you because this is the fight that is percolating behind the scenes,” he said.

Since the Irish superstar had also dismissed USADA’s policy earlier, Sonnen must have felt compelled to share this take on the controversy, even suggesting that a clash might take place between the agency and McGregor or the UFC.

“It is going to come down to McGregor versus USADA or it’s going to come down to the UFC versus USADA,” he said

Although whether Sonnen’s prediction does turn out true is something that only time will tell. Considering McGregor’s stature as a star, some might choose to agree with the 46-year-old’s assessment of the scenario since neither fans nor the promotion would want to find themselves deprived of the superstar’s fights; which possibly could lead to a conflict between the promotion and USADA.

Rogan previously backed McGregor over his recovery protocol

Joe Rogan’s earlier comments on McGregor’s circumstances also reflect the perspective of many fans as well. The veteran analyst had explained how the nature of the injury required McGregor to take enhancements in order to make a complete recovery possible.

“You’re not going to heal off that just eating mangos and f*****g eating clean. You need some help. I would want that person to take something.” Rogan stated.
