Dana White may have a rough night after this one. The fight card he assembled for UFC Saudi Arabia has just been rejected by the Saudi higher-ups. Of course, it’s upsetting news but it’s not the end of the line either. White will have to work on the card once again and now, he has time to do so.

Recently, the UFC announced that they’ll be going to Saudi Arabia for the first time ever. The Riyadh event was Fight Night 238. We say ‘was’ because perhaps now, the event may be delayed to a later date. This could make it Fight Night 239 if another one comes before it. Here’s the freshly announced date and other details.

UFC Fight Night 238 was scheduled for the 2nd of March, 2024. It consisted of fights like Alex Perez vs. Muhammad Mokaev, Eryk Anders vs. Jamie Pickett, and many more. However, the people who overlooked these proceedings were unhappy with it. Ariel Helwani from the MMA Hour broke the news to the world.

Now, the event will take place in June instead. The card will most likely be altered to the liking of the higher-ups. What fights would you expect on it? Fight Night cards are some of the most exciting ones out there. For instance, the recent Johnny Walker vs. Magomed Ankalaev fight for the main event.

Riyadh in itself is a massive arena now. From boxing to soccer, all sorts of stars assemble there no matter what sport is being displayed. So it only stands to reason that the people who overlook things wanted it to be more exciting. Perhaps, a spectatorship that’s filled with stars demands a bit more.

The same could be seen during the Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury super-fight. The PFL bout went down in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and saw Ngannou shake up both, Fury and the boxing world in general. While a controversial loss led to Ngannou collecting his first defeat in his boxing debut, the match was still one of the best. And perhaps the next will be even bigger.

Ngannou’s next appearance in Saudi Arabia

Ngannou took on Fury in Saudi Arabia and he’ll do the same against his next opponent, Anthony Joshua in a similar fashion. Recently, a bout between the two was teased and later on, confirmed by both parties involved. Joshua who had previously called a fight with Ngannou a “gimmick fight” is now forced to go and find out for himself.

The bout will go down on the 8th of March, so very close to the time Fight Night 238 was supposed to go down. Now, it looks like Dana White’s nemesis would get to grace a sporting arena before any of the UFC fighters. Would White be very happy about it? Probably not? Either way, he still has a massive card to figure out.
