Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated in his illustrious UFC career. And despite his untimely retirement, he remained connected to the sport in the capacity of a coach. His fighters were constantly winning against formidable opponents, and that has kept the ex-champ well in the buzz with his entire clan receiving the moniker ‘Team Khabib.’ However, in a recent turn of events, Team Khabib Nurmagomedov suffered a heavy blow.

It is reported that his cousin, Abubakar Nurmagomedov is no longer a part of the UFC. Why did this happen? What were the events leading up to this revelation? Let’s find that out.

Abubakar Nurmagomedov is a former UFC fighter with a record of seventeen wins and only 4 defeats. The cousin of the former lightweight champion, the two grew up together, not to mention, they were training partners for the longest time. But evidently, he did not find the same success as his brother as it was reported earlier that he is no longer in the UFC.

In his four fights in the UFC, cousin Nurmagomedov only won twice and was defeated in his last fight against Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos. Safe to say, given that he is no longer in the UFC, the organization did not find him of much calibre.

That being said, there are several other fighters under the guidance of Nurmagomedov who are here to stay and one of the biggest prospects. One of them is none other than Umar Nurmagomedov and he has been rightfully making headlines for the same.

Umar Numergomedov is also the cousin of the former lightweight champion and competes in the bantamweight division. Many consider him the next Khabib Nurmagedov primarily because of his association with his cousin and also the fact that he is also an undefeated fighter. Moreover, he is set to make his return to the cage.

After a long lay-off, he is coming back to face an unranked UFC fighter named Bekzat Almakhan on March 2nd. This revelation may come as a shock given the fact that he fought a ranked opponent the last time.
