Max Holloway was last seen inside the Octagon when he took on Chan Sung Jung and won the fight via knockout. The former featherweight champion is one of the few complete fighters on the roster and has performed at the biggest stages consistently. One of his leading strengths is his exceptional cardio, which allows him to put pressure on his opponents in the later stages of the fight. However, there is more. According to Big John McCarthy, ‘Blessed’ has the advantage of size against his opponent, Justin Gaethje. How?

Initially, Thomson asked, “Did you see the two of them face off? Gaethje and Max? Max looks bigger than him.” Responding to this, McCarthy narrated an incident that might shock the fans.

The former referee said, “All I can remember about you know when being there with Max. First of all, Max is such a nice human being, you know. But the night that he beat Jose Aldo to win the title, he was 178 pounds that night after weighing in at 145. And I was like, ‘how did you put that much weight back on?’ And how are you gonna compete putting that much weight? No problem for him so.”

Both Holloway and Gaethje stand at 5’11” or 180.34 CM. As per the information available, the former’s walk-around weight is about 190 pounds, making him a big featherweight. In fact, in the past, there have been many debates about him cutting a lot of weight and not fighting in his natural weight class.

Holloway might have an advantage of size before he clashes with Gaethje, but he still has to put up a show against the BMF champion. ‘The Highlight’ is fresh off a victory against Dustin Poirier via knockout at UFC 291 and will look to keep his winning momentum going. Not only MMA experts but MMA fighters have also started predicting their favorites for the battle. Dustin Poirier has made some predictions before the much-awaited clash. What did he predict?

Dustin Poirier is one of those fighters who has faced both Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway inside the Octagon. ‘The Diamond’ faced the Gaethje two times in his career and is 1-1 with him. Poirier also faced Max Holloway twice in his career and managed to come out on top on both occasions. He previously made an appearance at the MMA Hour Show and was asked to choose his favorite. Poirier seemed very confident in his selection and had no hesitation in picking Holloway.

He said, “I think I’d put money on Max. I’ve seen a lot of people online saying ‘Max is going to be undersized’. Max is a big guy. He and Gaethje probably walk around at the same weight… His timing, range, durability. It’s a coin toss, but if I was betting, I would bet Max.”

Current bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and his coach Tim Welch also picked their favorite for the fight in episode 271 of the ‘TimboSugarShow’. The pair picked Justin Gaethje as the favorite to win the fight.
