According to reports, UFC middleweights, Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori are set to main event a UFC Fight Night card in October. The bout hasn’t been made official yet. However, it is close to being finalized.

Costa sits at no.3 in the middleweight division. He hasn’t fought since his loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 253. Vettori is coming off a loss against the champion as well. ‘The Italian Dream’ holds the no.4 spot in the rankings of the UFC’s 185 lbs division. Both fighters will look to work their way back to the no.1 contender spot yet again with a win.

‘Borrachinha’ suffered his first loss as a professional against ‘The Last Stylebender’. He was completely outclassed in that fight and eventually got finished in the second round of the contest.

On the other hand, Vettori went the full 5-rounds against Adesanya at UFC 263 and lost a decision. But the fight was very much one-sided, and the scorecards reflected upon that fact.

Paulo Costa vs Marvin Vettori: What to expect?

Both fighters have a forward pressing style. Costa is a reckless brawler who walks down on his opponents. Vettori has a technical base with sound striking and grappling skills. As both men have good durability, fans can expect a banger when they collide.

Adesanya is expected to take on former champion Robert Whittaker in a rematch next. So, the timeline of this fight is suitable for these two men as well. Also, the UFC has booked Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum to fight as well. So, maybe the winners of the two fights can battle it out in a possible no.1 contender match.

Costa, who was vocal about his displeasure on fighter pay, received some strong words from UFC President Dana White for his stunt. White trashed his last performance. Now, it remains to be seen how the Brazilian fares against ‘The Italian Dream‘.
