After talking about a rematch with Pereira and Francis Ngannou’s UFC departure, the interviewer asked Adesanya about his future plans. The interviewer inquired whether the fighter would like to retire at his peak or extend his fighting career and retire in his 40s. Israel Adesanya had a straightforward answer to this question.
“I’ve been in the UFC five years, right? If I’m being honest, I’m not gonna be here in five years”, Adesanya said. “I have other things to do in life”, the former middleweight champ added. According to Adesanya, he loves fighting, and he knows he is “great” at it.
But he does not “attach” himself to the label of a fighter or a champion, and wants to leave at the top.
