Julianna Pena, the new female bantamweight champion, made history in the co-main event of UFC 269. She took on the undisputed champion Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title.
No one believed that ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ could go through the double champion in the fight. As ‘The Lioness’ was undefeated since 2015 and had demolished every challenger.
However, the American was very positive coming into the title fight. In the first round, it looked like ‘The Lioness’ is dominating Pena, but she retaliated with some good shots.

In the second round, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ unleashed some brutal combination that rocked Nunes. Finally, she took her to the mat and ended the fight via submission, leaving the whole MMA community in shock with her stunning performance.

Many fans and UFC stars congratulated Pena for her victory. One of them was Nate Diaz. In the octagon interview with Joe Rogan, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’, quoted the famous Nate Diaz line after he submitted Conor McGregor at UFC 196.
Diaz acknowledged this. And responding to Pena, and he congratulated her and posted it on his official Twitter account with the caption, “When you know you know…Congratulations to @VenezuelanVixen #beast.”

Julianna Pena Ready for Greater Challenges
Following her win at UFC 269, the newly crowned bantamweight champion admitted to a rematch with ‘The Lioness’ in the future. However, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ will take some time off from fighting to enjoy with her family.
Interestingly, Nunes will also opt for the rematch after she comes back, as claimed in her octagon interview. However, if the rematch doesn’t come to fruition, the American champion has a few other fights that interest her.
In her fight press conference, Pena said, “I think that there are some rematches I want to do. I would like to go down and rematch Valentina Shevchenko.”

She added, “I would love to get that rematch against Germaine de Randamie. I would love a rematch against Amanda Nunes if that’s what she wants. Those are the rematches that I have in my peripheral.”
