The UFC president, Dana White, shook the UFC’s Welterweight division when he declared Colby Covington the next title challenger after the bout between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 came to an end. Covington was the backup for the bout between Edwards and Usman. White was impressed with how Covington prepared himself to be a backup. The UFC boss stated that as one of the reasons that persuaded him to give the title shot to ‘Chaos’. However, Covington already received two title shots against the former Welterweight champion, Usman. He lost both fights and now is again vying for a title shot against ‘Rocky’.
After losing two title shots, fighters like Belal Muhammad felt that ‘Chaos’ was not eligible to receive anymore title opportunities. However, the final decision was always the UFC boss’, and he wanted the Springfield native to fight for the championship. Now that the fight between the two is finalized, UFC Welterweight stars like Gilbert Burns are coming forward with their predictions. Burns also put forward some reasons to support his prediction.

He might not take Leon in the first round, not in the second round but eventually, he will… He is gonna be hurt first round.” Burns continued, “He is gonna be hurt second round but eventually, in third round or fourth round or fifth round I think Colby will be able to take him… Very close fight but I think Colby will… he is gonna get hurt a lot but I think Colby can get away.”

‘Rocky’ was able to win against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ twice. Moreover, Covington has lost two title shots against Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 and UFC 268. However, the Brazilian fighter believed that ‘Chaos’ was going to be the victor. At the moment, Burns is training hard to lock horns against Belal Muhammad at UFC 288 on May 6th.
The two are coming against each other on very short notice, followed by the scrapping of the co-main event between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. Many believe that the winner between Burns and Muhammad will be the next challenger after the bout between Edwards and Covington.
