One of the biggest rivalries in the history of the UFC has to do with the Diaz-McGregor fight. The pair fought each other twice in 2016 and are 1-1 in their rivalry. It all started with Diaz’s infamous rant on McGregor. The two fought for the first time after Diaz stepped in on short notice to replace Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196. In a shocking turn of events, Diaz subbed McGregor via a rear naked choke in the second round after being battered bloody in the first.
Hell-bent on leveling the score, McGregor called for a rematch and the pair met in the octagon again at UFC 202. McGregor dominated the early rounds, but Diaz successfully weathered the early storm and found success in the later rounds. The pair went the full distance back and forth. McGregor got a majority decision win, making them one apiece.
