Conor McGregor is an entertainer through and through. A perennial troll, ‘Notorious’ has not met a feud he didn’t like. And he has gotten involved in another one, this time against R&B legend Akon. The Irishman had posted a voice note of him singing a rendition of Akon’s hit song, ‘Locked Up’.

Akon apparently was not happy with this, and McGregor received a DMCA notice from the singer’s camp, leading to his X (formerly Twitter) account being blocked. And not one to back down, ‘Mac’ took to his Instagram account and doubled down.

McGregor posted a short video on his Instagram story to mock Akon once again. He shared a screenshot of the DMCA notice from X (Twitter) and wrote that Akon was not happy. The former two-division champion sang a parody of another one of Akon’s songs, ‘I Wanna Love You’, with changed lyrics, poking fun at the singer.

‘Notorious’, however, later took down the story, perhaps fearful that the singer might initiate legal action on that platform too. And while fans are eager to hear from Akon, he has not addressed the issue yet. However, McGregor has bigger fish to fry right now, working on getting in shape for his comeback after two years out of the Octagon.

The former UFC and CW two-division champion last fought in 2021, when he faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Dubliner broke his leg during the bout and has been recovering since. He has been sitting on two consecutive losses as well as a serious injury and a long period of inactivity.

The Irishman has only fought four times in the last six years. But, with his leg fully healed up and having put on some muscles, he has been working hard preparing for his return, even though the exact date of his return remains unclear.
