Currently, the fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall is one of the great MMA soap operas, with some fans and peers unsure whether the two combatants will face off. However, Dana White appears to have the problem under control. So much so that the organization’s CEO was convinced that the top heavyweight contenders would ultimately square off in 2025. Even Jon Jones took to his X account, hinting at a major announcement tomorrow. So, it is about the fight? Well, Chael Sonnen has released a significant update that will undoubtedly cause heartbreak for many.

On his YouTube channel, ‘The American Gangster’ cleared up a major misconception among fans that Jon Jones will not fight the Briton, which he claims is false. In fact, Chael Sonnen confirmed that ‘Bones’ hasn’t been officially offered the fight and any claims to the contrary are baseless. But what about the reigning UFC heavyweight champion asking for major money for the fight? Well, according to the 47-year-old, it was all the adrenaline from the fight that made Jones make the statement.

He said, “I don’t think this is a new trend. I don’t believe that fight’s being held up. I don’t believe that Jon Jones has been officially offered that fight. As we start to get through the first quarter of 2025, that will change. International fight weekend would be a perfect weekend to host that fight.” Sonnen further added that scheduling and venue decisions made by Dana White will impact when ‘Bones’ is officially offered the fight. Moreover, there is no indication the 37-year-old will decline the offer if contacted.

‘The American Gangster’ said on his YouTube video, “But if they’re going back to Madison Square Garden this November, the same as they did last November and the November before that, it would also make sense to bring out Jones, who just headlined, and Aspinall, who just headed. I mean, it would make a level of sense. So, what the date is and what the venue is, is the most relevant thing to when the phone call gets placed and the negotiation begins.”
