Sean Strickland snatched the belt away from Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 and has never looked back. And it looks like, he’s not planning to do so either unless and until this one condition he’s put forward is satisfied. Right now, the reigning champion awaits a bout against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297.

It seems neither of the two fighters have much regard for the former champion. At a recent press conference, the two addressed Adesanya as loudly as humanly possible. And neither of them had anything kind to say about ‘Izzy’. So, will ‘Tarzan’ ever fight him again?

That’s right, Sean Strickland has one condition to fight Israel Adesanya, and it’s money. Strickland defeated him in what was a major upset. No one expected Strickland to take the belt away via the decision win but he totally dominated Adesanya in the fight.

A fight that may just have come off Dricus Du Plessis not being able to fight Adesanya in the first place. Now, even if Adesanya returns for a rematch, Strickland won’t fight him unless he’s paid a significant amount of money. And good money too.

“Yeah, f*ck man. As of all things, how much money are you paying me? As of now? No. But how much money are you paying me?” He said in a recent press conference. It’s all about the time. He has only recently been crowned the champion.

And so he said, as of now, he’d not fight Adesanya because perhaps it’s just too soon. However, for him to take it up again, a significant sum would be necessary. Because let’s face it, Adesanya is no easy challenge. He’s still #1 in the rankings and can give ‘Tarzan’ a run for his money. So for now, Strickland has Du Plessis to deal with. But do the two of them care about Adesanya?

Strickland and Du Plessis are an electrifying pair inside or outside the Octagon. Everyone’s seen them slander each other and even get into a cage-side brawl. However, when Israel Adesanya picked Du Plessis as the potential winner of the match, both the fighters came together in dismissing the ‘Stylebender’s’ claims quickly.

Du Plessis asked the press to let Adesanya stay on the break that he is calling the former champ “irrelevant”. Meanwhile Strickland dismissed him calling him many things including “cringe-lord”.
