30-year-old Grant Dawson put up a dominant show in the recently concluded UFC Fight Night event in Vegas. He knocked out Rafa Garcia in the second round and is currently on a two-fight winning streak. Since making his promotional debut in 2019, ‘KGD’ has been one of the most consistent performers in the lightweight division.
His next target will be to get closer to the title and intends to fight #7 ranked lightweight fighter Beneil Dariush. However, rumors suggest that Dariush already has a fight lined up for him. So, who does the 35-year-old plan to fight next in his career? Let us find out.

In 2023, Dariush lost a bit of momentum in the lightweight division after losing two back-to-back fights. His first loss came against Charles Oliveira in June and then to Arman Tsarukyan in December. Dariush’s recent setbacks necessitated a well-deserved break to allow his body and mind to recover from the rigors of consistent competition. He has been diligently working on a gradual return to training in recent months.
While the 36-year-old aims for an Octagon comeback in 2024, his potential opponent remains uncertain. Black Belt MMA recently hinted at a possible matchup on their Instagram page. Following his UFC Fight Night victory, Grant Dawson expressed a desire to face a top-10 contender like ‘Benny’, but it seems he may have to wait a bit longer for this opportunity
They shared a message on their post which read, “@grantdawsonkgd says he planned to callout @beneildariush yesterday after his dominant TKO win but says he heard Beneil already had a fight booked.” Nothing confirmed, but I have heard. While there is no confirmation about any scheduled bout, Dustin Poirier also shared a story on his Instagram account with a unique caption, “Fight News Coming”. ‘The Diamond’ was last seen in action at UFC 302 when he went toe to toe against Islam Makhachev for the title.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Dustin Poirier's 4-man BMF tournament idea a game-changer or just wishful thinking?
Have an interesting take?
Despite failing to win the title, Poirier impressed one and all with his performance. While many felt he would put up the gloves after the fight, his career is far from over. While there is no official announcement from the UFC, fans will be hoping to see these two legends in action. This is not the first time that the pair has been linked for a fight but Poirier had previously declined the idea. As fans wait for any particular news about it, Dustin Poirier has come up with his idea for his next scrap.
Dustin Poirer wants the UFC to organize a 4-man BMF tournament
Dustin Poirier has an unorthodox idea to try to get his hands on the BMF title as he approaches the twilight of his career. The lightweight superstar lost his bout to Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt last year. ‘The Human Highlight’ caught ‘The Diamond’ with a brutal head kick and knocked him out to clinch the honor. Gaethje later went on to lose the title to Max Holloway at UFC 300 which is termed by many as one of the best knockouts in recent memory.

However, Poirier wants the UFC to organize a one-night, 4-man tournament just like they did in the older days. During an interview with Sirius XM, the former interim champion suggested the idea, which seemed very interesting to the fans. Poirier’s idea involves a tournament that will involve four fighters (Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker), and all will be competing on the same night. There will be two semi-finals, and the winner will be crowned as the new BMF champion.
Well, it all depends on the UFC whether they want to approve of this idea or not. Do you think that Dustin Poirier should feature in a 4-man event? Or should he take on Beneil Dariush next? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
