If the issue with ticket sales wasn’t enough to cause problems for UFC 306, the PPV has met with another big obstacle. Rumors suggest that the bantamweight title contender, Merab Dvalishvili, has succumbed to a staph infection just days before the big Mexican Independence Day event, and fans are certainly not happy about this speculation.
Dana White’s love letter to the Mexican people hasn’t quite lived up to the outcome that the UFC CEO expected, losing the battle against Canelo Alvarez, whose big PPV fight against Edgar Berlanga is almost sold out. In the wake of these problems, Merab Dvalishvili seems to be in a problem himself ahead of his big money fight.
Just like how the eagle-eyed fans spotted Islam Makhachev‘s staph infection, the same thing happened with Merab Dvalishvili. In a photo of the Georgian that surfaced online, fans spotted a bruise on ‘The Machine’s left arm that looked eerily similar to Makhachev’s infection, even though Dvalishvili hasn’t shared any news about a possible staph infection.

Merab Dvalishvili had already had to hear some stern words from Dana White after he received a nasty cut during training recently and went on to share it on social media. Now, in the wake of this new rumor, fans believe that this might be the end of the UFC run for the Georgian. A fan stated, “Dana might kick him out the ufc.” On the other hand, some fans pointed out the increasing difficulties that the UFC 306 PPV is facing, as a couple of other fans commented, “That sphere card getting worse and worse,” and, “Here we go again.”
However, given the momentum Sean O’Malley has right now, fans have given very little chance for Merab Dvalishvili to succeed against ‘Suga’. “He’s getting flatlined regardless,” one fan stated, while another X user commented, “I don’t see any staph infection,” believing that ‘The Machine’ looks fine given that he’s been pretty active on social media and those posts don’t indicate that he’s infected or injured.

Another shared a lengthy reaction, claiming that he expected such things to happen to Merab Dvalishvili because of his own antics. “A guy who takes out his own stitches has a staph infection, that’s no surprise. But Merab is the type of guy to still make it to the fight even if he’s compromised. This is good news for Sean it means Merabs cardio will be compromised and cardio is Merabs biggest weapon,” that fan added. Meanwhile, one fan claimed, “Probably from that Indian food,” citing his recent visit to India as the cause of his staph infection.
