Dustin Poirier might not have received an undisputed title but can anyone doubt his place among the top dogs of UFC? Universally acclaimed as a “fighter’s fighter”, even folks like Israel Adesanya and undefeated legend Khabib Nurmagomedov have stated that he is a champ and an absolute legend. And now thatThe Diamondhas planned to retire, his last dance has become a big talking point in the fight world. The 40-fight veteran Poirier wants to lay his gloves down in the place where everything started for him. And for this, he wants alegends onlybout. But again, the fight between Poirier and Dariush is just speculation per Dariush, there might be a possibility of a trilogy fight between Holloway and Dustin Poirier.

Holloway has not fought since he suffered the first KO loss of his career against Ilia Topuria. But he still holds the BMF title he won putting Justin Gaethje to sleep at UFC 300. Poirier and Holloway have already met twice inside the cage andThe Diamondhas beaten him both times inside the Octagon. The legendary duo first fought at UFC 143, when Holloway made his promotional debut.

It was a bit of a wobbly match since the 20-year-old UFC newbie was tapped out pretty fast by his opponent. So he plans to go out with a bang in his last dance. UFC agreed and now he has planned everything. He communicated his plans to retire in the Outta Pocket podcast and said, “Look I got a call today from the UFC because they knew I was coming out here and doing radio row and all kind of stuff and they knew fighting questions would pop up. They said, ‘You can go ahead and tell we’ve been in negotiations, we’re working on Louisiana for your retirement fight.’”

After this his next goal is to focus on his family and businesses while raising his daughter. The 36-year-old revealed that he does not want to “give the sport more than he can”.
