March 8, 2025 is already set for UFC 313, at Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. The preliminary card has been making waves with matches like Alex Morono vs. Carlos Leal and Bruno Silva vs. Joshua Van. However, uncertainty still loomed around the main card. But Justin Gaethje has just dropped the biggest hint at saving Dana White’s UFC 313. Well, ‘The Highlight’ is pretty itchy to redeem himself and March 8 seemed like the date to do that.

Kevin K shared a video of the former BMF champion planning to compete at UFC 313. In the video, he said, “So there’s no official fight signed. But I told the UFC maybe 2-3 months ago that March was, you know, the day I was looking for. I know there’s a fight on March 8th in Las Vegas. So, that’s the one I told them I wanted to be on. I think they’re figuring out fights right now. But I’m certainly mentally preparing, physically preparing to fight on that date.”

Gaethje last fought at UFC 300 and lost his BMF title. It was where Max Holloway knocked ‘The Highlight’ out in the final second of the final round. Needless to say, the 36-year-old was pretty excited to land back into the Octagon. And the prospective opponent? It’s none other than Dan Hooker. He continued, “I think it’s gonna be Dan Hooker. But with the UFC, things can always change. But that’s what I’m preparing for again, mentally, physically, for that fight, March 8th.”

Is Dana White really planning for a BMF tournament for UFC 313?

What’s your perspective on:

Could a 4-man BMF tournament at UFC 313 redefine the sport's legacy in modern MMA?

Have an interesting take?

2025 began with MMA Sound claiming that Poirier vs. Holloway was in the works for UFC 313. This actually correlated to the time when a fan pitted ‘The Diamond’ and ‘Blessed’ together for a BMF title fight, and the Cajun fighter replied with, “Last Dance.” Needless to say, this would be the perfect end to a trilogy fight between Poirier and Holloway. But there’s a catch.

During his interview with MMA Today on SiriusXM, Poirier suggested that the UFC could make a 4-man BMF fight happen. He said, “Now that excites me. Because that kind of stuff is for the dogs. That’s like old Pride days or Grand Prix. That’s a real ‘BMF.’ If you can fight a tournament in one night, multiple opponents, that’s the definition of ‘BMF.'” And the contestants for the event? Poirier named Justin Gaethje, Dan Hooker, Holloway and himself. “That’s a bloodbath,” he concluded.

Now, with another rumor pitting Gaethje and ‘The Hangman’ together, the rumors point at Poirier’s suggestion. Now, all that we can do is wait for the UFC head honcho to confirm if it’s actually true. After all, a 4-man tournament in this era would be iconic for the UFC.
