“I hear how arena screaming and I wanna more and more. Ok, I wanna action more, I forget about game plan.” That was what Rafael Fiziev said following his loss at the hands of Mateusz Gamrot back in 2023, the bout which ended with ‘Ataman’s gruesome injury. Now, the Azerbaijani fighter has expressed his desire to have a rematch against his Polish rival after recovering from the torn ACL injury suffered at UFC Vegas 79. But what about Gamrot? Does he want to have a rematch?
Talking to Submission Radio, Fiziev said, “Honestly, after my last loss against Gamrot, like after when I got surgery, I talked with my manager. And I tell him, ‘Bro, I want a rematch, I want to fight this guy.’ I want a rematch because like, I still want to feel that this pressure, this pressure like wrestling pressure and grappling pressure. I still want to fight with elite grapplers like him and I still want to check myself against the wrestlers like him, you know. I still want it. If this fight happens against Gamrot, if I can fight him that will be perfect for me.
This attitude of starving for the feeling of a fight truly impressed Gamrot. Taking to X, the ‘Gamer’ agreed to take on Fiziev for a 5-round fight. He wrote, “I like you attitude #noeasyfights. 5 rounds sounds great with you.” Needless to say, Dana White just received one of the most entertaining matchup options for the upcoming year.

But Gamrot vs. Fiziev isn’t the only fight that would entertain the fighting community in 2025. The UFC head honcho has planned 3 other amazing fights for the year.
What has Dana White planned for 2025?
Dana White previously announced that Conor McGregor would make his return to the UFC in late 2025. Even ‘Mystic Mac’ himself claimed that he wanted to fight twice in the coming year. Well, that would certainly wrap up his contract with the UFC. However, his comeback has just witnessed a halt as McGregor was found liable in the civil case Nikita Hand filed against him.

Next up, we’d get to see Jon Jones returning to defend his heavyweight championship title. This time, he might finally take on Tom Aspinall. In a conversation with Dave Schmulenson, ‘Bones’ said, “Right now, the UFC and I are in talks to see what happens next. I’m back in the gym, I’m training, I feel really great. The team’s support, they’re right behind me, and we’ll just be ready for whatever opportunity comes our way. There is a [money figure], but I’m not going to discuss that publicly. We’ll just have to wait and see… I’ll be competing in 2025, more than likely.” The ‘Honey Badger’ later gave rise to chaos on the internet when he claimed that the plan was in place and that there was a big announcement coming.
Nevertheless, it’s Fiziev’s attitude towards fighting that has won our hearts. Do you think this attitude and the lesson he learned in his previous fight against Gamrot get him a win? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
