Can McGregor still dominate the octagon, or is Chandler going to expose his weaknesses?

Conor McGregor‘s comeback has been on the cards for a year now. The former dual weight champion of the world was supposed to clash against Michael Chandler at the UFC 303, however, a toe injury derailed his aspirations and the entire match had to be canceled altogether. After the fiasco, Dana White came forward to state that they would not announce any news relating to the Irishman until he completely recovered. However, fairly recently, the UFC CEO changed his tunes when he announced that he had some announcements to make for Conor McGregor.

“We talked about Conor today. We got Conor news coming up. We’ve got Conor news coming up,” said Dana White in an Instagram live. After the UFC head honcho said those words, the entire MMA community was alerted about a potential matchup concerning McGregor.Interestingly, one of the UFC’s insiders has come forward to make a rather bold claim about ‘Notorious’s comeback.

Conor Mcgregor has not competed inside the Octagon for a good three years now. His last clash against former interim lightweight champ, Dustin Poirier witnessed a career-ending injury for the Dubliner as he broke his shin completely. After the UFC 303 fiasco, McGregor asserted that he would like to make a comeback to the Octagon at the UFC 310 but it appears that this might not happen. Former UFC fighter and insider, Chael Sonnen in one of his conversations asserted that the probability of a fight happening between ‘Notorious’ and Michael Chandler is all-time high but it would not materialize this year.

“Well, I think Conor is sincere that he would like to fight [at] 170 pounds [at the] T-Mobile Arena [in] December 2024 opposite Michael Chandler under the unified rules of the mixed martial arts. I believe him. I don’t think that’s a ploy for attention. I believe an inside scoop that I’m getting that the UFC wants all of those same things – they just want it in January in California,” said Sonnen.

Well, he is not the only person, who is bullish on their fight as even Daniel Cormier predicts a fight between McGregor and Chandler sooner than expected, “Vegas is where the fight card will take place in December. Conor McGregor needs to fight in Vegas. He will fight Michael Chandler seemingly. So, it seems as though when the boss went public instead and started to say, ‘Well, this guy is not fighting’, it almost lit a fire in Conor McGregor. It seems like we’re getting closer and closer,” said Cormier in one of his conversations on his YouTube handle
