Is Colby Covington avoiding Ian Garry, or is he just biding his time for the right moment?

With UFC 310, Dana White and the promotion are looking to close out the year with a bang! The event is reported to have been scheduled for December 7 and will go down at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise Nevada. The fights on the card? It looks like the UFC boss may be lining things up for the long-awaited showdown between Colby Covington and Ian Garry.

‘The Future’ is currently undefeated in the UFC so far and has already got a significant beef with Covington. Meanwhile, ‘Chaos’ last stepped into the Octagon in 2023 and faced a loss to Leon Edwards in a welterweight title bout. As such, it’s a matchup that’s got the fans buzzing and the UFC boss dropped a massive hint about it recently!

According to a recent update shared by MMA Orbit on X, “Dana White says they discussed Ian Machado Garry’s next fight in their matchmaker meeting today. He says there are a few names on the table, one being Colby Covington but they haven’t decided who they’re going with yet.”

Sounds interesting right? The UFC head honcho also fanned the flames of excitement during the recent DWCS (Dana White Contender Series) post-fight press conference. He was asked to share his thoughts on UFC 310 and who the headliners would be. While not confirming any matchups, White stated, “It’s a fun card. It’s a really, really good card. We’ll let you know soon.”

What makes this so intriguing is Garry has previously stated that he was offered a clash against Covington back at UFC 303. While he ended up facing and beating Michael ‘Venom’ Page at the event instead, in his interview on The MMA Hour before the fight, Garry had stated, “I’ll send you the email. I was offered the fight, I was offered the fight, I was offered it June 29, UFC 303, Ian Machado Garry vs. Colby Covington.”

So, will we see the two finally settle their feud once and for all inside the Octagon in December? That remains to be seen. But the fact that Garry was already offered the fight once, does add more weight to the speculation. Recently, the Irishman has even used an interesting tactic to grab Colby Covington’s attention!

Garry and his son team up to call out Covington

Ian Garry has made it clear—he wants Colby Covington in the Octagon and the Irish sensation isn’t done trying to get under ‘Chaos’s skin. In a recent post shared on Instagram, Garry enlisted his young son to impersonate Covington!

Captioning the post, “From the kid that brought you the greatest fighter impressions comes a brand new one – The Colby Covington”, Garry asks his son, Leo, “Leo what does Colby Covington do?” before the youngster runs away from the camera. While the impression grabbed a lot of attention in the MMA sphere the silence from Covington has been deafening.

There’s been no response, no bite—at least, not yet. With Dana White hinting at possible matchups and Garry persistently calling out Covington, the buildup has been nothing short of thrilling. Garry’s playful jab with his son’s impersonation of Covington may have been lighthearted, but it clearly signaled his desire to get ‘Chaos’ in the cage.

The UFC boss may be keeping things under wraps for now, but fans can’t help but speculate. Will UFC 310 be the stage where these two finally lock horns? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
