Can McGregor's comeback against Chandler reignite his career, or is it too late?

Former dual-champion Conor McGregor was all set to make a return to the Octagon at UFC 303. However, an injury to his toe forced the 36-year-old to drop out of the fight. McGregor has been out of action for more than three years and the fans are waiting to see him in action. The UFC has yet to announce the return date for the Dubliner, but it seems it might just be around the corner. ‘Mystic Mac’ is fairly active on social media and keeps his fans updated about his training regime. However, this time, he took the opportunity to announce the date for his return.

McGregor uploaded one of his sparring sessions with the caption “Up outta that” which caught the attention of many, including Sean O’Malley. The 29-year-old mocked the Dubliner and commented, “Slow and sloppy”. McGregor was quick to respond to the claim and replied, “Throw the same shot on the pads and let’s see your version, lad. That would unalive a m…..fkr for real, that shot. It’s nice work, cheer up.” 

What followed was a unique response from the Dubliner when one of the fans commented, “December Champ?” ‘The Notorious’ replied with a very stern, ‘Yes’.

Since the time McGregor suffered an injury he has faced a lot of criticism from the fans a well as the experts. However, it seems the former champion is on the road towards recovery. He has been fairly active on social media and recently posted a video of him running on the streets on Instagram. Seeing him move freely have forced the fans to believe that he indeed is on his journey to make a comeback. However, it’s not only McGregor who is keeping his fans posted about his recovery.

Michael Chandler is also using this opportunity to get some attention from the fans. The 38-year-old recently shared a new graphics of their fight on X with a caption, “December To Remember.” But is McGregor up for the challenge? It seems he is more than ready.

There are very few fighter in the UFC who have the ability to play mind games like McGregor does. The 36-year-old is a master of getting under the skin of his opponents and finds unique ways to do so. This time around ‘The Notorious’ one has taken a completely different approach altogether. McGregor uploaded a video of him sparring where he landed his brutal left hook with a caption, “Make them scared to throw and then bomb them with a home-built explosive, this is Ireland. Me.” The video was uploaded during the time of his UFC 303 preparation and looked in sublime form.

However, the 36-year-old claims to be in much better form currently after recovering from the injury. He recently reacted to his own tweet in his own style brimming with confidence and commented, “I’m even smoother now,” McGregor will be desperate to get back into the Octagon as he is yet to fight in the last three years. Moreover he has only two fights left in his contract and will somehow look to end his rivalry with ‘Iron’. However, the biggest question is when will the former champion return?
