UFC 309 is going to make the fans shocked if the rumors are to be true. UFC 309 might be getting Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski as the main matchup! Kevin posted this on a now-deleted post on X, “Charles Oliveria vs Alexander Volkanovski is in the works for MSG November 16th at #UFC309 Lightweight Bout per sources.”

He then counteracted with the explanation, “Unfortunately I was told to take down the Charles Oliveria Fight News. Not worth the clout to ruin anything good I have going for me. Hope we hear something soon.” However, another user by the name @PariiaMMA saw his update and said the same on X.

Does this mean we will see Volkanovski and Oliveira fight it out? Oliveira was seen to be all in favor of fighting the featherweight champion. Happy Punch even posted about this previously where Oliveira stated, “Why not? It would be a great honor. A great fighter, a great name. So why not?… Waiting to see what the UFC will bring for us.” While both are amazing fighters on the roster, the fans have more desire to see them fight. ‘Do Bronx’ has a 3-2 in his last 5 fights and saw defeat with Arman Tsarukyan and Volkanovski lost the last fight and has been on a slump lately. ‘The Great’ suffered at UFC 298 against Ilia Topuria.

If they do fight at UC 309 they will be placed at 155 pounds and there was even a 2022 feud where Oliveira warned his opponent of crossing over to 155. “Charles Oliveira, there’s a lot of exciting fights that I would love to do while I’m waiting as well. So yeah – just whatever excites me,” confessed Volkanovski in a conversation with the Free Stylebender podcast. So did Dana White hear his pleas?

Both Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski are coming off losses and need a boost in their fight stats. The former featherweight champion has fought in the lightweight division and both times against Islam Makhachev. Even though he tasted defeat two times he is still motivated to fight again. On top of that, even Charles Oliveira agreed to a fight with Volkanovski.

Their fight would be a sight to behold because Volkanovski has had Ko win while Oliveira has a skill in BJJ and submits his opponents. the decision to schedule their match lies solely in the hands of the UFC boss. On the other hand, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are set to fight at UFC 309 as well as per Dana White. He spoke about this after his conference for the Dana White Contender series.
