Is Conor McGregor's call-out of Dan Hooker genuine, or just another publicity stunt?

Has Conor McGregor finally found his next opponent in Dan Hooker? This is what the MMA community is speculating since the fighters have been back and forth regarding dates and venues of their match. McGregor confidently announced his intention to fight ‘Hangman’ in the future as he expressed the same during an interview with Bloody Elbow at the BKFC Spain event.

However, UFC insider and former fighter Chael Sonnen expressed skepticism about the matchup, citing potential obstacles that could prevent the fight from materializing. During the latest episode of Good Guy / Bad Guy episode, ‘The American Gangster’ and Daniel Cormier were discussing the possibility of Hooker vs McGregor.

To this, Sonnen said, “I love that Conor has called him out, there is no truth that this fight is in the works just so everybody understands Dan Hooker and Conor McGregor ran into each other at this bare-knuckle event. They were in the ring it turns out those guys are kind of quasi friends, Dan Hooker, even said that ‘ Conor and I are cut from the same cloth.’ They just like each other they get each other, So Conor called him out told the world about the fight, and is trying to pursue the fight to help Dan Hooker Because Red Panty Night is still real. I only have to tell you that because no Dana is not doing this. They don’t even have a show on the date that Conor said it out for.”

To give you the whole story, ‘Hangman’ had caught up with ‘Mystic Mac’ at Marbella in Spain to witness the BKFC showdown. The #5 ranked UFC lightweight star seemed impressed by McGregor’s success with the promotion. Hooker even mentioned the same to Helen Yee and said, “The guy’s busy, he’s got money coming out of his ears. If I had that amount of money in the bank, you wouldn’t see me anywhere near a fistfight.” Hooker was even all in for the fight against McGregor that everyone was speculating about.

Interestingly ‘The Notorious One’ was seen replying to Bloody Elbow’s Donagh Corby about the possible dates for the fight. He had confidently answered, “February first, Saudi Arabia.” However, according to Sonnen, UFC booked this date for a Fight Night event in Riyadh and there is also another reason why this month might not work out for Hooker.

Is ‘Hangman’ going to fight McGregor in February?

Dan Hooker was ready to compete against Conor McGregor in February. In a previous interview, with Submission Radio, he said, “I jumped in the ring, we had a few words inside of the ring but February 1 works for me in Saudi Arabia. We’ll get that thing straight away.”

However, in a recent instance, he changed his stance on the decision. Even though the native New Zealander is impressed by McGregor, a possible fight might not come to fruition because of some prior engagements. In a surprising and wonderful turn of events, Dan Hooker expressed that his wife Isabella is due to give birth to their second child in 2025. This is the reason he cannot take any fights including a bout against McGregor especially in the first months of the year.

“I’m going to go in January or March. The missus is due February, so no can go,” Hooker added during the interview with Helen Yee. Nevertheless, this does omit the idea of a match between the stars completely! Will you look forward to it, if this fight comes to fruition? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
